Measuring Guide

1. HOW DO I FIND THE RIGHT SIZE FOR A CLASSIC, ADJUSTABLE COLLAR?
In order to determine the correct collar size for your dog, you can either measure from an existing collar (A) or measure your dog's neck directly with a soft measuring tape (B).
IMPORTANT: Do not measure your dog's collar when it's laid out flat on the table. Since every collar has a different material, thickness, etc., this may result in severe sizing discrepancies.
A. MEASURE WITH AN EXISTING COLLAR
Get an existing collar that already fits your dog nicely. In a closed position (not laid out flat!) measure the inside of the collar snuggly with a soft measuring tape..
B. MEASURE YOUR DOG'S NECK
Measure your dog’s neck with a soft measuring tape where the collar would sit naturally. Make sure it’s snug without any fingers in between. Please make sure your dog is in a sitting or standing position and not laying down.
2. HOW DO I FIND THE RIGHT SIZE FOR A NON ADJUSTABLE SLIP OR CHOKE COLLAR (FOR EXAMPLE ID TAG COLLARS, NON ADJUSTABLE MARTINGALE COLLARS, ETC.)?
For those types of collars we will need two sizes: Your dog's head size and your dog's neck size (see below image).
MEASURE YOUR DOG'S NECK AND HEAD SIZE
Using a soft measuring tape, measure your dog's neck directly behind the ears. Then, measure the biggest part of your dog's head including floppy ears. Make sure it’s snug without any fingers in between. Please make sure your dog is in a sitting or standing position and not laying down.
3. HOW DO I MEASURE MY DOG FOR A HARNESS?
In order to make a custom harness for your dog we will need 4 measurements: SHOULDER LENGTH, CHEST GIRTH, BACK STRAP, CHEST STRAP. Please make sure that your dog is standing upright with a neutral head position. Using a soft measuring tape, determine the following 4 sizes:
(1) SHOULDER LENGTH: Find your dog's breast bone and measure the distance to the middle of his shoulder blades (on one side only).
(2) CHEST GIRTH: Measure the chest girth a little bit behind the widest size of the rib cage. It should be not too close to the elbows and not too far behind the rip cage for a comfortable fit.
(3) BACK STRAP: Measure the distance from between the shoulder blades to the point where you measured the chest girth.
(4) CHEST STRAP: Measure the distance from your dog's breast bone to the point where you measured the chest girth.
